Annabel Mountford

British Soprano, Annabel Mountford studied at the Royal College of Music International Opera School where she obtained her Artist Diploma in Opera.  Prior to this she gained a Bachelor of Music with honours from the Royal Northern College of Music, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Vocal Performance in Distinction from the RCM.  Her studies were supported by the Royal College of Music’s Sir Gordon Palmer Award, Coutts & Co and the Josephine Baker Trust.

Annabel was a semi-finalist in the 49th International Vocal Competition’s-Hertogenbosch and the Montserrat Caballé International Singing Competition in Zaragoza.

Annabel has been a member of the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus for the past two seasons and appeared as First Fairy/chorus in Purcell’sThe Fairy Queen.  Other roles include Zerlina Don Giovanni, EurydiceOrpheus in the Underworld, Cockerel The Cunning Little Vixen, SophieWerther, Ophélie Hamlet, Adèle Die Fledermaus, Miss WordsworthAlbert Herring, Vixen The Cunning Little Vixen. She created the role of Poseidon/Woman in the World Premiere of Una Tragedia di Proporzione Titaniche by Laurence Osborn.

Whilst still studying for her Master’s Degree at the RCM, English Touring Opera called her in at the last minute to take over the role of Agilea Teseo which she learnt in a week!  She also performed DalindaAriodante and covered both Clizia Teseo and Soprano Soloist (Nurse 1) The Fairy Queen.  She has also performed the roles of Musetta La Bohème for Opera UpClose, Gretel Hansel and Gretel for London Youth Opera, Galatea Acis and Galatea for Opera Lyrica and Eurilla Il Pastor Fido for the London Handel Festival.

Most recently on the concert platform Annabel performed as soprano soloist in Mendelssohn’s Hear our Prayer, Bruckner’s Te Deum and Handel’s Messiah. Other soloist performances include Handel’s Dixit Dominus, Bach’s Jauchzet Gott, Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate, Haydn’s St Cecilia Mass, Vaughan Williams’ Serenade for Music and Pergolesi’sStabat Mater.

She recently returned to English Touring Opera to sing the role of Pamina The Magic Flute and cover Tiny Paul Bunyan for English Touring Opera.
