Claire Barnett-Jones is an English National Opera Harewood Artist and Independent Opera Fellow 2019.
She won the Wagner Prize of the Netherlands and Junior Jury Prize at International Vocal Competition
’s-Hertogenbosch 2018 and participated in Operalia 2019 in Prague. She has sung at the BBC Last Night of the Proms, Wigmore Hall, Opéra National de Bordeaux and with Orchestra of Valencia. Recent roles include Annina La traviata (Glyndebourne on Tour), covers Annina Der Rosenkavalier, Suzuki Madama Butterfly and Dryad Ariadne auf Naxos (Glyndebourne Festival Opera), where she was awarded the Wessex Glyndebourne Association Award. For ENO she covered Sotoprene Akhnaten and Dido Dido and Aeneas. This season Claire made her ENO debut as Eurydice the Myth in Harrison Birtwistle’s The Mask of Orpheus. She will also be covering Suzuki Madame Butterfly, Jezibaba Rusalka and Frederica Luisa Miller. She created the role of Alto 1 in Stockhausen’s Mittwoch aus Licht with Birmingham Opera Company and BBC Proms. Future concert performances include Mozart’s Requiem with Sinfonia Vivo, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Rotterdam Sinfonia and her debut at the Concertgebouw singing Schumann’s Szenen aus Goethes Faust with Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Claire is an alumna of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
