Helen Sherman was born in Australia and studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, where she was the first student to receive the International Artists Diploma in Opera.
Helen has represented Australia at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition (2011) and at the Francisco Viñas competition in Barcelona (2014). In 2013 she was awarded third prize in the Wigmore Hall International Song Prize. Helen is a Samling Artist, Associate Artist of Classical Opera Company and an alumna of the Young Classical Artists Trust.
Recent roles include Dorabella Così fan Tutte (Opera North) Irene Bajazet (Pinchgut Opera, Sydney), Cherubino The Marriage of Figaro (Opera North), Sesto La clemenza di Tito (Classical Opera Company); Rosina The Barber of Seville (Longborough Festival); and Aurelio L’Assedio di Calais (English Touring Opera).
Concert appearances include performances at Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, The Sheldonian, Royal Albert Hall and at the City of London, Cheltenham and Two Moors Festivals.
Forthcoming engagements include: Donna Elvira Don Giovanni(Classical Opera Company) and Octavian Der Rosenkavalier (Opera North).
