Born in China, soprano Hermione Wu is currently studying for her Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music’s International Opera School, mentored by Amanda Roocroft. She is a Siow-Furniss Scholar, supported by a Betty Brenner Award and the Helen Marjorie Tonks Award.
Prior to this, Hermione Wu received a BMus from the Royal Academy of Music and a Masters in Music – with Distinction – from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has performed as a recitalist in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Centre, Kings Place and is also a regular guest soloist for Beijing Concert Hall’s International Classical Music Season.
She has performed the roles of Queen of the Night Die Zauberflöte, La Princesse L’enfant et les sortilèges and Diana Giove in Argo. Opera scenes have included Adina L’elisir d’amore, Flora The Turn of the Screw, Euridice Orfeo ed Euridice, Romilda Xerxes, Blonde Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Palmide Il crociato in Egitto, Susanna Le nozze di Figaro, Nannetta Falstaff and Musetta La bohème.
