John Cuthbert studied piano accompaniment at postgraduate level with Simon Lepper and Roger Vignoles at the Royal College of Music. During his time at the RCM, John won the accompanist prizes in the college’s English Song, Lieder and Lies Askonas
After graduating from the Master of Music degree course in 2011, John was awarded a place on the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Foyle Future Firsts’ training scheme (2011/2012). His enrolment on this scheme has led to performances with the City of London Sinfonia, London Philharmonic Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra, with whom he travelled to Salzburg and Lucerne to play the celeste in performances of Prokofiev’s La Cenerentola in August 2012. He has also performed alongside Emilie Renard in the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall and with Edward Grint at Fairfield Halls in Croydon, London.
Last year John appeared on BBC Radio 3’s InTune with Verunka Vlkova and David Woodward. He also performed in the semi-finals of the Kathleen Ferrier Awards with Katherine Crompton at Wigmore Hall.
