Marek received his formative musical education from Prof. Katarzyna Popowa-Zydron in Gdansk, Poland. As a 17-year-old he won third prize in the International Piano Competition in Andorra. At the age of 19 he was awarded a prize from the Polish Ministry of Culture and Education for music activity and achievements. He also won a Gdansk and Brussels Rotary Club Prize for the best artistic school graduate in Northern Poland.
Marek studied vocal accompaniment at GSMD under the tutelage of Ronan O’Hora and Rudolf Piernay, where he was awarded the Gold Medal Accompanist Prize in both 2009 and 2011. Further success followed when Marek won the Prix de Piano in the Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Voice-Piano Competition 2012 in Paris.
After graduating from GSMD, he trained with a pleiad of distinguished artists including Christa Ludwig and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Marek is a Samling Artist, a Britten-Pears Young Artist, and an alumnus of Academie Musicale de Villecroze. Marek has been a repetiteur trainee at the National Opera Studio in London where he was supported by the Opera Awards Foundation.
Marek has performed across Europe in concert halls including the Wigmore, Barbican, Berlin Philharmonie, the Musikverein in Vienna and also the Carnegie Hall in New York. Other engagements include vocal recitals at Paris Opera de Bastille under the tutelage of Marilyn Horne, the position of an official accompanist for Teresa Berganza masterclass for Acedemie Musicale de Villecroze and the language coach for the production of King Roger for the Royal Opera House in London.
