Sarah Redgwick

Samling Artist Programme: 1999

Born in Wakefield, Sarah Redgwick graduated with first class honours from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and completed her studies in the postgraduate Opera Course. The winner of the GSMD Gold Medal for singers, she was a Samling Artist, and has received awards from The Countess of Munster Trust, the Madeleine Finden Trust, the Sybil Tutton Trust and the Wingate Foundation.

Recent highlights include Last Night of the Autumn Proms and Christmas and New Year Galas for Raymond Gubbay, Violetta (cover) for English National Opera and her debut at Garsington Opera in Intermezzo as the Notary’s Wife & Christine (cover).

Operatic engagements include Violetta La traviata, Anna Intermezzo, Giannetta L’elisir d’amore, Pousette Manon, Mimì La bohème, Adele Die Fledermaus and Actor A Night at the Chinese Opera (all for Scottish Opera); Donna Elvira Don Giovanni (English National Opera); Marzelline Fidelio (Opera Holland Park, Oxford Philomusica, Scottish Opera); Mrs Maurant Street Scene (The Opera Group – Théâtre du Châtelet and Gran Teatre del Liceu); Errolynn Wallen’s Cautionary Tales (Latitude Festival); Frasquita Carmen and Zerlina Don Giovanni (Mid Wales Opera); Donna Elvira in Gazzaniga’s Don Giovanni (Bampton Classical Opera); Sidonie Armide (Buxton Festival); Atalanta Xerxes (British Youth Opera); Despina Così fan tutte (Clonter Opera); Nella Gianni Schicchi, Zerlina Don Giovanni; Susanna Le nozze di Figaro, Berta Il barbiere di Siviglia and Brigitta Iolanta (all for Opera Holland Park); Clorinda La Cenerentola (Welsh National Opera); Violetta La traviata (Opéra de Baugé); the Mahagonny Songspiel (BBC Kurt Weill Festival at the Barbican) and Second Playmate Der Zwerg (Opera North). Sarah appears regularly in concert, her performances including Classics for Christmas (Raymond Gubbay at the Barbican, Bridgewater Hall and Preston Guildhall); B Minor Mass (Guildford Philharmonic Orchestra); J. S. Bach Magnificat and the world première of Rutti’s Stabat Mater (St John’s Smith Square); The Apostles (Eton College); Messiah (Philomusica and The Really Big Chorus); Nelson Mass (Portsmouth Cathedral); Mozart Mass in C Minor in (Wells Cathedral); the Mozart Requiem & Orff Carmina Burana (Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir) and Poulenc Gloria at the Farnham Maltings. She also was featured on STV’s The Royal Blind Scottish Royal Variety Performance as well as at PPG Acts in Barcelona.

In the current season engagements include A Glorious Night in Old Vienna with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Spectacular Classics for Raymond Gubbay at the Royal Festival Hall with the London Concert Orchestra.
