British tenor Timothy Charles Langston read Music at the University of Manchester where he was awarded First Class Honours and latterly at the Royal Northern College of Music. He is thrilled to be a Samling Artist in 2015.
Timothy was recently an Opera Holland Park Christine Collins Young Artist, where he performed the role of Un Giovanetto in L’amore dei tre Re, A Fortune Teller Lakme. He’s also performed as an Apostle in Elgar’s The Apostles with The Halle under the baton of Sir Mark Elder, with Opera North, The European Opera Center with Richard Farnes, Psappha Ensemble, The Gabrieli Consort, the Gewandhaus Orchestra and British Youth Opera, where his roles have included Balthazar Zorn Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Wat Dreary A Beggar’s Opera, Eumete/Ulisse Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, Gaston La Traviata, Frederick The Pirates of Penzance, Nanki-Poo The Mikado, Ralph Rackshaw H.M.S. Pinafore and Danilo in Franz Lehar’s The Merry Widow. He also has a passion for contemporary music and has performed premières of new operas with Manchester Opera Project and at the Tête a Tête Festival.
In 2015 Timothy set up his own opera company, Manchester Opera Ensemble and directed their inaugural performance of Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief. As a composer Timothy has written an eclectic range of works, from humorous pieces for solo instruments to more serious works for larger ensembles.
