  Biography
 

Born and educated in Leicestershire, Katherine Manley gained a BMus hons at the RSAMD and recently graduated from the Benjamin Britten International Opera School, RCM, with a distinction. She continues to study with Lillian Watson. A Samling Scholar, Katherine has also been supported by a Wingate Scholarship and the Ian Fleming MBF Award.

Concert highlights include working with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the London Mozart Players, the Brandenburg Sinfonia and the Philharmonia Orchestra at venues such as the Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square and the Royal Albert Hall. In 2006 she took part in l’Academie d’Aix-en-Provence and sang in the Felicja Blumental Music Festival, Tel Aviv. Katherine has given live broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and recently performed Mendelssohn’s Elijah at Westminster Cathedral with Sir Thomas Allen.

Operatic roles are Musica and Euridice with English Touring Opera, Seleuce Tolomeo, (The London Handel Players- BBIOS and ETO), Pastori Orfeo (English National Opera), Elmira in a performance of Handel’s Sosarme (BBIOS), Belinda Dido and Aeneas and Cuzzoni in the Handel and Hendrix project Time Flows with Streetwise Opera.

Katherine recently covered the role of Despina with Glyndebourne Festival Opera and sang Fortuna in L'Incoronatione di Poppea for English National Opera. She looks forward to singing Sandman/Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel with Opera North and Arpago in L'Incoronazione di Dario with Garsington Opera. Forthcoming projects also include the role of Tullia, with Maurizio Benini and the London Philharmonic Orchestra for Opera Rara’s recording of Mercadante’s Virginia.
