  Biography
 


English Soprano Nicola Mills studied at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with Patricia MacMahon.


In 2007 Nicola was chosen by Sir Thomas Allen to take part in The Samling Foundation Masterclass with Philip Langridge, culminating in a Gala concert at The Sage, Gateshead. She was also selected to attend the Händel-Akademie in Karlsruhe early 2008, appearing in Apollo e Dafne.


In 2007 she made her Glyndebourne Festival Opera Debut as Uxor Pilati in Bach's St. Matthew Passion conducted by Richard Egarr. She also performed the 3rd Apparition in Verdi's Macbeth for Glyndebourne on Tour. For the 2008 Glyndebourne season Nicola covered Virtu in L’incoronazione di Poppea by Monteverdi.


Nicola Mills has extensive experience on the Oratorium and concert platform. She has worked with esteemed musicians such as Malcolm Martineau and Paul Wynne Griffiths, and has appeared in venues including The Händel House Museum, The Bridgewater Hall and St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London. Performed Oratorium repertoire include The Messiah by Händel, The Creation by Haydn, Ein Deutsches Requiem by Brahms, Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, Mass in C by Beethoven and Carmina Burana by Orff.


Nicola is now a full time member of the Opera Studio Nederland, following a guest appearance last year, working with Jan Willem de Vriend and The Combattimento Consort as the leading role in a Handel production. She has recently performed the roles of Second Woman and Second Witch in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas for Opera Zuid, and in 2010, is looking forward to performing the role of Brangene in Frank Martin's 'Le Vin Herbe' with Opera O.T in Rotterdam, and Helena in Britten's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', to be performed both in Estonia, Holland and at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam.
