  Biography
 

Born in Sweden, Stefan Holmström studied in Gothenburg, Malmö and at the GSMD where his roles included Count Perruchetto La fedeltà premiata, the title-role in Krenek’s Der Diktator and Dr Bartolo Il barbiere di Siviglia. He has studied with Rudolf Piernay, Birgit Nilsson and is currently working with Paul Farrington.

Stefan’s engagements have included Alidoro La cenerentola for Kijani Kenya International Festival, Escamillo Carmen, Don Alfonso Così fan tutte, Vicar Albert Herring for Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg, Mephistopheles Faust for Opera South, Pritschitsch The Merry Widow and Marchese d’Obigny La traviata for Opera Holland Park, Count Almaviva La mère coupable for Camberwell Pocket Opera, Masetto Don Giovanni for Opera Players, Le Gendarme Les mamelles de Tirésias for Grange Park Opera, Ramiro L’heure espagnole for Pimlico Opera, Don Magnifico La cenerentola for Opera Four and The Forester Forty Hares and a Cunning Little Vixen for English Touring Opera, Bartolo Marriage of Figaro for Surrey Opera, title role in Krasa’s Brundibar for Jubilee Opera in Aldeburgh and Satyr Platée for the EBF Trust in Athens.

His concert engagements have included the St Matthew Passion and Mozart Mass in C Minor at St John’s, Smith Square, Messiah at the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Puccini Messa di Gloria in Arundel Cathedral, Frank Martin In Terra Pax and Mozart Requiem with the RLPO, and Verdi Requiem with the Sussex Symphony Orchestra.

Current engagements include Colline La bohème, Cat/Bass I in Stravinsky’s Renard, Duruflé Requiem and Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël in Linköping Cathedral.
