Masterclass

International opera star Sir Thomas Allen has led Samling's vocal Masterclass Programme from the beginning, together with a team of world-class artists, coaches and teachers.

These week long residential vocal masterclasses have attracted young artists from every continent.

Many of these young singers - Samling Scholars - have gone on to carve out impressive international careers for themselves and see the work they did with Samling at that crucial stage in their development as their springboard and inspiration.

In 2011 Samling has selected 16 young singers and pianists to take part in two week-long programmes of study, where they are coached intensively in opera and lieder singing by some of the world's finest artists. These young people are usually in the final stages of their studies or just emerging into the professional world and are selected through a recommendation and audition process.

During Masterclass Samling opens its doors to the general public who are invited to observe our Leaders and their students - Samling Scholars - at work. The week ends with a gala concert, given on the last evening - the standard is exceptional. Full details in What's On.
