Emma Kerr

Samling Artist Programme: 2016

Born in Edinburgh, Emma completed her training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating with distinction from the GSMD Opera Course in 2015. She was a Jerwood Young Artist with Glyndebourne, performing cover Shepherd L’enfant et les sortilèges and Mercedes (cover) Carmen. She is currently The Robertson Trust Scottish Opera Emerging Artist.

Roles for Scottish Opera include Dorabella Così fan tutte, title role Ariodante (Unwrapped), Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro (Unwrapped), Second Wood Nymph Rusalka. Further roles include Prue The Dancing Master (world stage premiere), Cristina I pazzi per progetto (UK premiere),Veruna The Cunning Peasant (GSMD), Ninetta The Little Green Swallow (British Youth Opera) and Chair/Cat/Squirrel L’enfant et les sortilèges (GSMD/LSSO). Emma created the role of Nurse Annie Drummond in Iain Burnside’s Unknown Doors at the Barbican Pit Theatre.

Future engagements include Frau Grubach/Washerwoman The Trial Philip Glass and an Opera Highlights Tour for Scottish Opera.
