Galway-born David Kennedy is a graduate of the Irish National Opera Young Artist Studio. He was a Young Artist with Wexford Festival Opera, Britten Pears Arts, LIEDBasel and Heidelberger Frühling Liedakademie, working with Thomas Hampson, Malcolm Martineau, Roderick Williams and Lise Davidsen. Recent engagements include Le berger Pelléas et Mélisande (Britten Pears Arts); Demetrius A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Don Alvaro Il viaggio a Reims and Belcore L’elisir d’amore (Wexford Festival Opera) and John in the premiere of Tarik O’Regan’s The Testament of Mary (Irish National Opera). As a recitalist he has performed with Susan Manoff (Schubert Woche) and James Ballieu (Britten Pears Arts) and was a semi-finalist in the Wigmore Hall/Bollinger International Song Competition 2024.
