Heather Lowe

Mezzo-soprano, Samling Artist Programme: 2015

British mezzo-soprano Heather Lowe studied at the Royal Northern College of Music (under Barbara Robotham) and the National Opera Studio.

This April will see her making her debut with the CBSO Orchestra  and Chorus for an evening of operatic classics. 2021 was a busy year for Heather, seeing her re-visiting some of her favourite roles: Rosina The Barber of Seville (Welsh National Opera), Dorabella  Così fan tutte (Dorset Opera) and Angelina La Cenerentola (The Grange Festival Opera)

In spring of 2020  Heather made her role debut of Cherubino, The Marriage of Figaro (Opera North). Previous performances with Opera North include Sesto, Giulio Cesare‚ Hansel, Hansel und Gretel‚ Rosina, The Barber of Seville, The Page, Salome and Lel, Snowmaiden. Other operatic engagements include Hansel Hansel and Gretel (English National Opera/Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), Angelina La Cenerentola (West Green House Opera), Rosina The Barber of Seville (Welsh National Opera)‚ Dorabella Cosi fan tutte (Northern Ireland Opera)‚ Tisbe La Cenerentola (Welsh National Opera and Opera Holland Park)‚ Mrs Noye Noye’s Fludde (Nevill Holt)‚ Isolier Le Comte Ory (Chelsea Opera Group and Dorset Opera)‚ Apprentice Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (Glyndebourne Festival)‚ Orfeo Orfeo ed Euridice‚ Penelope Il ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria (RNCM) and Fidalma The Secret Marriage (British Youth Opera).

Alongside her busy performing career Heather is passionate about music in the community, in particular working with parents and children. She has recently completed a project with Our Future City (Brighton) creating and strengthening family and community relationships through music. Further skills include delivering music workshops in schools, nurturing new talent and creating space for children to learn music in a fun and accessible environment. Heather also provides one to one tuition both privately and in schools.

She is a trained ballet and ballroom dancer having trained from a very young age and still loves to dance. She loves to bring this skill into the rehearsal room and is always excited when a character she is portraying is given choreography.
