British tenor Ted Black is currently a member of the Royal College of Music International Opera Studio as the Betty Brenner Scholar and Sir Gordon Palmer Scholar, supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, Help Musicians UK, and the Drake Calleja Trust, having previously graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Ted won first place in the 2019 Lies Askonas Competition, was a finalist in the 2020 Kathleen Ferrier award, and a semi-finalist in the 2019 Grange Festival International Singing Competition. He recently made his international debut at Opera Wrocław as Ferrando Così fan tutte and Don Ottavio Don Giovanni. Future plans include Tamino Die Zauberflöte (RCM), a staged production of Vaughan Williams’ song cycle On Wenlock Edge at Waterperry Opera Festival in collaboration with Oxford Lieder, and the semi-finals of the Royal Overseas League Competition.
