Yihan Zhao is a second-year postgraduate student at the Royal College of Music, studying with Jianing Kong, Dmitri Alexeev, Richard Uttley and Simon Lepper. His undergraduate studies were generously supported by the Evelyn Tarrant Scholarship and the Eileen Rowe Musical Trust and he will join the Collaborative Piano faculty of RCM on an Artist Diploma course with full scholarship. He is a Leeds Young Artist and as a harpsichordist he won second prize at the Prix Annelie de Man in the Netherlands. He is part of a concert series on Abolition Song and its Legacies at the Handel Hendrix House that transmits and interprets lost voices of historical composers and writers, particularly those either Black or female.
